The best time to visit Kinnaur Kailash is in the summer from April to June. Between 8°C and 30°C are the temperatures that make the weather at its best for trekking and sightseeing, and top tourist destinations like Kinnaur Kailash Shivlingam, Sangla Valley, and Rupin Pass become easily approachable. The picturesque green valleys are in full bloom which is perfect for witnessing the natural beauty of the region.

The second best time to visit Kinnaur Kailash is from late August to mid-October. The weather during these months is quite pleasing with temperatures oscillating between 5°C to 20°C. The beauty of mother nature is at its peak and makes it a great time for carrying out trekking and other similar outdoor activities, due to clear skylines and vibrantly coloured landscapes. This season provides a tranquil setting to enjoy the natural beauty of the area without some of the busyness seen during the summer months.

The monsoon from July to mid-August is in full swing here and it is generally not advisable to travel with a visit to Kinnaur Kailash. Heavy rainfall falls in the region, which results in landslides and makes the trek to the routes dangerous as well. Travel is dangerous and so are outdoor activities as well, with cloudbursts being frequent in the area. Temperatures can vary greatly during this time from 10°C to 20°C so expect a high level of compatibility of frustrating warm weather conditions and limited accessibility to attractions.

The winter season (late October to March) is an impossible time to visit Kinnaur Kailash due to chilling cold and heavy snowfall. Temperatures can plummet to -5°C in winter, and the region quite literally becomes cut off. But with that said, people who love snow and a tranquil vacation could still wake up to the winter magic in the early mornings of fall. The necessities get disrupted and it is unsafe to trek or indulge in outdoor activities during this period.

The complete route is only open from May to October and is the best time to visit Kinnaur Kailash. Reach Reckong Peo by well-connected bus service or taxi from Shimla (220 km) or Delhi (570 km). The closest airport is at Shimla (217 km), and the nearest railway station is in Kalka, located approximately 342 km from Karahi. The next close railhead is at Shimla (244 km). Taxis or buses then travel to Reckong Peo.
